Rev. Traci D. Blackmon

Rev. Traci D. Blackmon served as the Associate General Minister and Vice-President of the United Church of Christ for seven transformative years, providing executive leadership to over 4,800 churches across the country. Under her leadership, programmatic offerings expanded by 15%, denominational reach grew by 40%, and justice-centered resolutions were amplified with clarity and moral courage.

Ordained first in the African Methodist Episcopal Church, and later becoming the first woman and 18th pastor in the 159-year history of Christ the King United Church of Christ, Rev. Blackmon has embodied a ministry of liberation that bridges the sanctuary, the street, and systems of power. She served as pastor there for eleven years, building a deeply rooted and relevant witness to the Gospel.

Before ministry, Rev. Blackmon served more than 25 years as a registered nurse specializing in cardiac care—tending not only to broken hearts but to the healing of communities. A graduate of Birmingham-Southern College (B.S., Nursing) and Eden Theological Seminary (M.Div.), she continues to carry a theology of embodied justice and care.

Rev. Blackmon currently serves on the boards of the Samuel DeWitt Proctor Conference, Chicago Theological Seminary, and WomanPreach! She is a proud mother of three adult children: Kortni Devon; Harold II; and Tyler Wayne Blackmon.
